A Mandala That’s Actually Yours
What You’re Working With
You’ll start with a mandala laser-cut from wood — an intricate pattern with nothing on it yet, just waiting for paint and gold leaf. Amber talks you through it as you go, and you build up the colour and shimmer layer by layer, at whatever pace feels right.
Somewhere in the middle of it is your Sacred Word Intention — a word, phrase, or affirmation you’ve chosen, engraved into the wood before you even arrive. It’s the one part of the design that’s entirely yours before you’ve painted a single stroke.
By the end you’ve got a finished piece to hang up or prop on a shelf — something to look at later and remember why you chose the word you did.
Pick a Word That Actually Means Something to You
The Sacred Word Intention
Before you come in, you’ll pick a word or short phrase — something that feels true for you right now. That gets engraved into the mandala ahead of time, so it’s already there, underneath everything you paint on top of it.
It could be something you’re aiming for, something you keep forgetting and want to remember, or just a feeling you want more of. There’s no wrong answer here — whatever’s honest for you is the right one.

You Don’t Need to Have Done This Before
Nobody’s comparing work here. Amber walks you through each step, so there’s nothing to prepare and nothing to get wrong.
First-Timers Welcome
Most people in the room haven’t done anything like this before, and they still leave with a piece they’re proud of.
Small Group
Capped at 15, so it stays relaxed rather than rushed. Work at whatever speed suits you.

Questions People Usually Ask
Do I need to be able to draw or paint already?
No — this is built for people starting from scratch. Amber talks you through each stage, and most of the room hasn’t done anything like it before.
What should I bring?
Nothing, really. Paint, gold leaf, brushes, your board, plus cake and a drink — it’s all sorted.
When do I need to pick my word?
Tell us when you book, or any time before the workshop — just leave a few days so it can be engraved in time. Stuck for ideas? Amber’s happy to help you land on something.
Where’s Root Café, and can I park nearby?
Central Norwich — we’ll send the full address and directions once you’ve booked. There’s pay-and-display parking close by, and it’s an easy walk from the bus and train station too.
Can I book this as a gift for someone?
Yes, and December’s a popular one for that. Leave a note at checkout, or message Amber after booking and she’ll sort the word with you. Gift certificates are an option too, if you’d rather not lock in a date.
What if I can’t make it?
You can pass your place to someone else, no problem. For a refund, get in touch at least 7 days out — within that window we can’t refund, but you can still transfer it.
